Album of The Week | Damn. – Kendrick Lamar

After a 2 year hiatus, Kendrick Lamar aka King Kendrick is back with a new album and it is hot!! The album, titled, “DAMN” is a strong piece with loud bars, messages, and well, gunshots. It is blunt, complex, and will more than likely evoke you to mutter “damn..” when it is all over. The project begins with a monologue of sorts, with Kendrick talking about this peculiar blind woman whom he is observing. This begins to make sense once you continue listening to the 14-track project. Kendrick touches on topics that are very real and apparent in today’s society. He raps about his blackness, Compton, his family, loyalty, love, and so much more. One of the most notable aspects of “DAMN” is the production. It really captures the listener and allows you to feel exactly what Kendrick was feeling when he made this. His iconic fast-punching flow can be heard all throughout the project with a few tries at a new flow. Kendrick fan or not, you will definitely appreciate this piece. Our favorite songs over here at The Edge are “DNA”, “LOVE”, and “XXX”. Be sure to give it a listen!
