Album of the Week| Melodrama- Lorde

Melodrama is Lorde’s second studio album after a three year hiatus, and it was released in June 2017 by Republic Records. If you aren’t a Lorde fan already after her triple platinum debut Pure Heroine, then you’re about to be! Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor has sonically sophisticated as an artist and individual since her debut. On this album not only does she address her own personal heartache (“Green Light”) and young love (“Supercut“), but each song on the record feels like a nod to all of the emotions you go through as a nineteen or twenty year old. This is her auditory study of being a young woman with a New Wave Pop feel, and a touch of hedonism, that just makes you wanna cry, dance and sing in the rain all at the same time. Lorde has a dynamic take on the 21st generation’s culture of unrequited love and hookup culture, which is highly relatable. Melodrama is full of bittersweet harmonies, beats to bump to on a sunset drive and lyrical moxie!

Our favorite songs off this album at WFNP 88.7 the Edge are “Homemade Dynamite” &“Hard Feelings/Loveless”!
