Album of the Week 10/19 | Mac Miller- GO:OD AM

Mac Miller’s new album GO:OD AM dropped back in September but has been rapidly gaining attention recently. For those of you who are not yet acquainted with Mac Miller, he is a 23 year old hip hop artist who first gained mainstream attention with his platinum selling single “Donald Trump”. His previous mixtape Faces told tales of depression and drug addiction, but his current project GO:OD AM displays Miller in a more balanced light accepting the goods and bads of his life, fame, and relationships. The album title itself should be noted as it is a play on words. It can be interpreted as the greeting “Good morning” or it can mean “Go OD in the morning”. The album starts off with a dreamy song, “Doors.” Over sleepy strings and playful piano Miller sings instead of raps: “Ain’t sayin’ that I’m sober, I’m just in a better place.” Some of our favorite songs over here at the edge are “Brand Name”, “100 Grandkids” and of course,“Weekend” which features the ever so talented Miguel. This album is most definitely a hit and will guarantee to have your heads bopping!
