Album Of The Week 10/03 | Solange – A Seat At The Table

Solange’s new album “A Seat At The Table” has arrived and is already receiving praises from fans and celebrities alike! This project is specifically a love story and celebration of blackness, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy it if you’re not black. Then again, it is still music we can all vibe to, no matter your color! Solange has never been one to be conventional and “A Seat At The Table” proves that again and again the deeper you go into the piece. Complete with 21 tracks, the album sings songs and tells stories with a cohesive and calming sound that combines electronica with funk and R&B. A lot of people rushed to compare this piece to Beyoncé’s LEMONADE. But if you really look at it, LEMONADE was a call to action while “A Seat At The Table” is a meditation on the experiences of both Black men and women in America. As well as a reminder for self-care. We love music that is not only nice to listen to, but has a message, and Solange’s album is definitely that. Our favorite songs over here at The Edge are “Don’t Touch My Hair” and “FUBU”. Be sure to check it out!
