Hello everyone! Although we did not have one last week, we still are continuing the “Edge Member of the Week”! This week we picked Corey Mathes who has been on the Edge for 3 semesters including this one. Check out about him and his show below!
Name: Corey Mathes
Show Name: Friday Jam Factory with DJ MCM
Short Bio about myself: When I graduate, I hope to find a job in the radio business either as a disc jockey for a music station or a sports-caster for a major league sports team. I am a huge hockey fan and my favorite team is the New York Rangers. I am also a NY Mets and NY Giants fan as well. I love horror films of every kind can appreciate a decent made video game on the Xbox or Super Nintendo. I try to stay sane whenever I can, but there are no guarantees. You’ll just have to find out for yourself.
Short Bio about my show: I pay tribute to all the classics of old when it comes to music. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s are all played here. I mainly stick to rock the first half of my show and then switch to rap and hip hop the second half; however, I am never afraid to stray off the beaten path and mix in some other genres as well. My slogan is “You can’t beat the classics” and I mean that in every sense. What better way to celebrate Friday and the upcoming weekend than by listening to some great artists and bands from years ago that rocked the world and continue to do so to this day.
What I love about the Edge: The Edge offers great variety on the music that can be played in the station and how each DJ is allowed to run their own show. Not every college radio station is like this and I am truly grateful for the fact that everybody here at the Edge is given freedom to let their creativity flow and their voices or music be heard.
Congrats Corey! Keep up the good work!
