Album of the Week 10/27 | Jessie Ware – Tough Love

Jessie Ware’s ‘Tough Love’

You ask yourself: Hey Edge, what’s a pop album that doesn’t suck. Well have we got the answer for you. Jessie Ware’s new release Tough Love is a collection heart-wrenching love songs that would make your macho brother tear up.

This is a pop album that your pre-teen sibling isn’t getting into, hopefully… not yet. Ware’s passionate vocals and tender lyrics float over electronic beats that provide you with a gentle feeling of relaxation. The title track, Tough Love, has a wonderful hook that is so catchy, it’s almost irritating on how perfect it is. On Say You Love Me, Ware sings about an unrequited romance which features a gospel chorus that resonates the line ‘I don’t want to fall in love… If you don’t want to try.”

Ware’s influences vary from early 2000s Alicia Keys, to  2010’s Class Actress’ synth pop jams. We here at The Edge give this album two tears and broken heart out of two tears and broken heart. If this album doesn’t get big,it’s proof that the Illuminati exists.
